Preserving our Community Heritage...Now and For The Future

This stately old colonial is located just north of the 100 block of Highland Dr. North. Yesterday's address was in fact 154 Highland Drive.

Here's how to compare the photos. Today's house has a full third floor. Match the fireplaces. See the large gable to the left of the fireplace, and see it in its current version as a small gable. If you get close to where the porch used to be, you can actually see the old columns integrated into the new remodel. The rounded corner on the back left is still the same today.

In 1913 this was the home of Mr. W. T. Whitney. With no house between it and Highland Drive at the time, "From its balcony can be seen both the Olympic and Cascade Ranges of mountains, as well as Lake Union and the Sound. the effect of the city lights at night is exceptionally well fitted to its location."
