Outstanding Renovation
ST Pauls’s Episcopal Church
The stunning mid-century architecture now visible was not the original 1903 building. The present church opened in the mid-century year of 1963. Being close to the Seattle World’s Fair grounds and under concurrent construction, it was a conscious nod to the World’s Fair. Most recently, the congregants have nearly completed an ambitious 2 million + renovation. This beautifully executed work includes a dazzling new metal roof and a redesign of the 1938 office & classroom addition that now provides universal accessibility.

Beloved Queen Anne Business
Queen Anne Book Company
Taking over from the Queen Anne Bookstore in 2013, this scrappy purveyor of the written word has endeared itself to the community. This valiant independent bookstore looms as a survivor in the Amazon sea. The management group takes care to encourage support of neighborhood not-for-profits while their event listings and book discussions include topics of community interest and concern to further support and engage the community.
-

West Canal Yards
A complete renovation and adaptive reuse of two concrete seafood warehouses. The work reflects an architectual transformation and the reimagining of a neighborhood in the Historic Maritime District on the southern flank of Queen Anne. Dr. Victoria Carr-Ware, QABC’s first Black Senior Pastor and the first person of color to serve in this role, the church embraces diversity, inclusion, and community engagement. In January 2025, Reverend Alex Booker was appointed Associate Pastor for Social Justice and Outreach, further solidifying QABC’s commitment to advocacy and equity.
