John Franklin Miller House – 108 W Prospect St
Still existing today, the house on West Prospect was the home of the Miller family, John and his wife Mary, daughter Leah and son Stewart. John was elected as Seattle's mayor in 1908 and served for one term, during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. Miller, a Republican, also represented Washington’s First Congressional District in the House of Representative from 1917 tom 1931. He and Mary were still in the house in 1930, when he told the census that the house and property were worth $10,000. Miller is remembered for his anti-Japanese views and his belief in maintaining what he called, ‘racial purity.’
