Meet at 7th Avenue West and West Garfield Street.
The walk will cover approximately 1.5 miles, including up to ten sets of stairs, both up and down.
Guided by Jake and Cathy Jaramillo, authors of “Seattle Stairway Walks”.
There are more than 120 public stairs on Queen Anne. As our neighborhood grew and annexed land in the early 1900’s municipal projects were encouraged. Our first stairs might have been built as early as 1904. To meet the needs of tremendous growth and our steep topography, Queen Anne became the legion of Seattle’s stairs that connected to the expanding trolley system.
In addition to exploring the historical stairs of QA, we will point out several historically significant homes along our route.
Come explore this vibrant legacy of our city and enjoy the exercise with others who are also interested in this lasting history.
Any changes to the starting point will be provided in the confirmation.
